The Deposit Guarantee Fund in the Banking System (FGDSB) was established as a legal entity under public law on July 1, 2004 based on the Law of the Republic of Moldova no. 575 of 26.12.2003 regarding the guarantee of deposits in the banking system.<\/p>

Our objective is to guarantee the safety of deposits placed in banks, to protect the interests of depositors and to promote the stability of the financial system.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

DGFBS represents a fundamental component of the financial system, playing an active role in strengthening depositors' confidence and contributing to maintaining the financial resilience of the banking system in the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>

As a statutory bank deposit guarantee scheme, during its 20 years of activity, the FGDSB has contributed to the country's financial stability by compensating the guaranteed deposits of failed banks. Although in 2004 only individual deposits were guaranteed and the coverage level was very low, now the coverage level has increased significantly up to 200 000 lei and both individual and corporate deposits are guaranteed.<\/p>

In addition to the specific duties of a deposit guarantee scheme, starting from 2020, the FGDSB is the administrator of the Bank Resolution Fund, with the aim of accumulating financial resources to cover the needs related to the effective application of resolution instruments.<\/p>

The basic mission of the DGFBS consists in the efficient management of the resources of the Fund to cover bank deposits in accordance with the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Moldova no. 160 of 22.06.2023 regarding the guarantee of deposits in banks, as well as the administration of the financial resources of the Bank Resolution Fund according to the provisions of Law of the Republic of Moldova no. 232 of 03.10.2016 regarding the recovery and resolution of banks.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The governing bodies of the DGFBS are Board of Directors<\/b> and general director<\/b>.<\/p>

The supreme governing body<\/b> is the Board of Directors, composed of 5 members, appointed by a decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, proposed by:<\/p>
